Hluboká nad Vltavou

neo-gothic castle

The neo-gothic castle of Hluboka nad Vltavou belongs to one of the most popular scenic locations in the south of the Czech Republic, not far away from the regional capital of Ceske Budejovice.

It is located approximately a 45-minute drive from Cesky Krumlov, (known for its Budweiser Budvar brewery). It is an ideal 1 to 2-hour stop-over location for all lovers of architecture, history, and gardening travelling. This magnificent castle complex is situated on top of a hill above the Vltava River, which is one of the key rivers of the country. Apart from the castle and its castle grounds, visitors can also enjoy a nice meal in one of the local restaurants (some of which focus on the local speciality - carp), or visit the exquisite baroque church downtown. Children will definitely appreciate popping to the local zoo, and families can enjoy a soothing game of golf at the local golf course. If you wish to visit both the castle and the town, and perhaps have a nibble to eat, we recommend to allow approximately 3 to 4 hours for your visit of this charming location. The town and the castle also organize frequent art exhibitions.
